Review: It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

So, I finally got around to reading this book and I am so happy I did. This book gave me so many different perspective's of mentally ill people. It didn't just open my eyes to what they are actually going through, but it also caught my attention on how they are just like us, but in different circumstances. We are all the same, but some just have a harder time dealing with pressure and life in general. I do want to notice that we did lose a genius writer due to these causes. We have actually lost a lot of people due to this illness. Some just cover it up better than others. No one really knows what anybody is going through...

My interview with Lily Paradis! The author of Ignite!

1. How did you come up with the handsome character of Dean Powell?

Lily: He just sort of strolled into my mind one day. I was sitting at the DMV getting my license renewed after turning 21, and I had a lot of time to wait and just dream him up. Also, I write the kind of guys that I would want to read about and fall in love with, so that makes it pretty easy!

2. What made you think that you should write sarcastically in some points of Ignite?

Lily: At times it was hard to separate myself from Lauren, so those little bits are part of my personality. Sometimes I'm a little bit too sarcastic and sassy for my own good. I think there's always going to be a little bit of sarcasm in my characters because tat's how I am. It would be too dry without it.

3. How did you expect people to react to your book?

Lily: I honestly had no idea. The only person who had read it prior to the editing stage was my friend Maddie, whose quote is in the front of the book. She read it chapter by chapter as I was writing it because I would email them to her right after I wrote them. She loved it, but she was one person, and I'm biased, so I had no ide. A few of my other friends liked it when they beta read for me, but if you went by ho my editors reacted, the book wouldn't have been published. On a more positive note, I've been really overwhelmed by the support from everyone so far!

4. I know that Arclight anVolition are books to be in your future, ae you working on any other projects?

Lily: Yes, I have Equilibium, which is a Sci- Fi/ historical fantasy mash up, Rise, which is a sci-fi, Ragnaok, which is a Dystopian novel ( You can tell by the title), and Solstice, which is another contemporary YA romance. Then I also have Valkyrie, which is a historical fiction/ fantasy, and Skyfall, which is a contemporary YA romance with a twist. Right now Volition is my favorite because I am obsessed with Tate McKenna and Hayden Rockefeller.

5. In Ignite there are several references about movies, are you a move buff?

Lily: I wouldn't say I am a buff, But I do enjoy movies! I have a partially photographic memory and I watch movies with subtitles because I'm weird, so it's easy for me to remember random tidbits about movies. Also, my college roommate and best friend was a film major, so I watched a lot of movies with her. I'm glad you caught them, I was a little bit worried about a couple, especially the wedding date reference.

Thank you, Lily!

Review: IGNITE by Lily Paradis

About the book:
After her father's untimely demise in a mining accident and her mothers abandonment, Lauren Lindsay is no stranger to loss. She's used to living life for one person: herself. That is, until another family tragedy thrusts three children into her care and uproots her life in ways she could never imagine. Laurens first instinct is to run, until she meets their striking, mysterious neighbor Dean Powell.
Their immediate chemistry and his connection with her late father just might be enough to keep her in town long enough to uncover pieces of her past that she never had answers to. Dean's shady past and her reluctance to trust him could cost her the life she's always been searching for, but will she run back to her old life? Or will she choose to stay and live the life her father always imagined for her?

My Review:
When I was asked to be a part of this book blog tour I was really concerned that it would just be an okay book. Then I started corresponding with Lily Paradis and how she composed everything she wrote was definitely how a writer is! I finally got my book in and read it and this was what I thought:
By the first sentence I was captured, because come on who makes a DMV, a place made of metaphors! As I continued to read Ignite I realized that I have no room to complain about little things because sometimes people have to dread getting a phone call.
This book has opened my eyes to something so much bigger than I am. You don't get to choose what happens to you, it just kind of happens. Another thing that I fell in love with was not only Dean Powell, but the writing style! It was so amazing and so different. This book is like nothing I have ever seen before. I saw so much heart and it was very refreshing to read a book that was romantic and the romance could actually happen! It gave me hope that there is a Dean Powell out there for everyone.
Another thing that was so refreshing about this book was that it was hilarious. So much sarcasm and moments where I just couldn't stop fangirling. Disneyland, Siberia and Fiji will always mean a lot to me now. Something that you must know while reading this book is that meaning is everything. The meaning of some of the conversations are absolutely beautiful. I went back to read it again, and I loved it even more!
You wouldn't believe that this was Lily's debut book, but sure enough it is. Her writing is natural. She is meant to write because if she doesn't write than I might go crawl in the corner. Just by one book she has caused me to fall in love with her characters, her writing and everything in between. You have not lived till you have read this book and lived inside of it. Although there is tragedy all through Ignite, I would much rather live inside this book.
Thank you, Lily Paradis for giving life to the world of books.

Review: Anna and the French Kiss

When I started reading this book I wasn't too sure how it was going to be, but I got into it by the first page! It was beautiful and so, so true. This was one of the most refreshing reads I have read. Stephanie Perkins knows how to write. This is definitely a must read! I felt like I was Anna and in some ways I am.

Review: Four A Divergent Collection

I really enjoyed seeing what happened before Tris and knowing why Tobias is this way. If you have read the Divergent series then you will definitely cry because it looks back on some of the memories that happened in Divergent.  This book took me about 4 hours to read because I was so engrossed with it.

Review: The Spectacular Now

This book is a little slow as it starts, but by page seventy it is so amazing and doesn't stop. It is the truest love story I have ever read and I usually don't like reading love stories.  The end is amazing and how most love stories work out.
